Natural Anxiety Relief Art from Nature

Why is Making Art from Natural Materials Grounding?

Nature is evocative, intoxicating, invigorating, fascinating. Experiencing the varied textures, scents, colors, and sounds of natural materials helps the states to boring down our bodies, minds, and breathing. Nosotros zone into the current moment. We leave behind the assaults of a busy mind, and are "grounded" to the earth.

How Do I Utilise Art from Nature equally a Grounding Tool in a Purposeful Way?

There are probably hundreds of means to practise this, so please let united states of america know what works for you in the comments! I'd similar to share the mode I like to do it, and what works for many of my art therapy clients as well.

1. Accept a nature walk. Even if you live in the city- at that place are small and large green spaces lurking…look closely.

2. Pick upward items that catch your eye, even if you aren't sure why they attracted you. Even if you initially judge them as ugly, allow them "choose you" instead of y'all choosing them.

Need ideas of what to cull? Pick up: smooth stones, sticks, beautiful or large leaves, seeds, pods, flower petals, shells, acorns, pinecones, or annihilation else that strikes your fancy. There really isn't a right or incorrect with this.

three. Accept your fourth dimension. Try to observe as much detail as you can through your v senses. This, equally you may know, is a grounding tool called mindfulness. It's a great tool against feet.

4. Shut your optics and create the intention of letting get of stress and anxiety while making art. Sit with this thought for a bit and make it as strong as yous can.

And then open your eyes and begin working with whatever catches your eye. You may too want to follow one of the suggested projects for inspiration.

5. Before y'all even think of judging your art, STOP! While making your art, and when you are looking at the finished projection, resist the urge to judge it. (This is another key to mindfulness – taking a non-judgmental stance of observation.)

In that location really isn't a right or a wrong in making this kind of art.The purpose is to experience, experiment, and create. You will exercise that just correct, I promise.

Enjoy the process, and trust the image that wants to emerge.
